Acupuncture

Acupuncture focuses on correcting the imbalances of energy flow by inserting ultra-thin needles under the skin to stimulate specific points in the body. Stimulation unblocks the channels and encourages and even flow of QI (bio-energy), restoring the body's balance and relieving pain and other symptoms.

How does acupuncture work? Traditional Chinese Medicine theory explains that either an imbalance or a blockage of the energy (QI ) circulating through the body can cause pain and disease. Acupuncture regulates and restores a harmonious energetic balance of the body.

We offer acupuncture in our offices to help our patients with the pain that they are suffering. We find that a treatment plan that incorporates medication along with acupuncture provides added help to reduce the patient’s symptoms. Acupuncture provides a natural solution to help reduce the patient’s symptoms, and also to help in the healing process.

Work Conditioning Programs

Work Conditioning as defined by the California Code of Regulations, Section 97545 is a work-related, intensive, goal-oriented treatment program specifically designed to restore an individual’s systemic, neuro-musculoskeletal (strength, endurance, movement, flexibility, and motor control) and cardio-pulmonary functions. The objective of the Work Conditioning program is to restore the patient’s physical capacity and function so that the injured worker can return to work or be able to perform work activities while in the process of being treated for their injury without becoming re-injured.

Dr. Chris Cake's rehabilitation program approach explores patient-generated movement and positioning strategies during both the acute and chronic phase. Consistent with the principles of rehabilitation, independence through self-care is the primary goal. Activity therapy, especially in the acute phase, minimizes the potential for the physical and psychological sequela of Disability (deconditioning and abnormal illness behavior).

Progression of treatment is provided with the progressive increase of forces, as necessary, providing continuous passive spinal motion, strategically performed by the patient. Objective outcome assessments used to qualify and quantify Work Conditioning include Functional Capacity Evaluation (Cal-FCP), Electronic Range of Motion, posture and Disability tests.
